Kavi Thankavel-Chairperson
.

Kavi is an accounts specialist with MCI. The entire financial management is done by the chairperson of the board. Kavi brings her unique gift of interpersonal relationship to the committee. She is meticulous in bookkeeping, compassionate and considerate of parents, and a true liaison between the teachers and the parents. Her people skills are invaluable for the phenomenal growth of the school these past 15 years.

Malathi Koli, MD

Malathi is a founder member of the school and a well recognized psychiatrist in San Antonio. She has served as the San Antonio Dance Umbrella Chair for 3 years. During her tenure the program ‘Dance Around the World’ was conceived which is an annual feature. Her depth of knowledge in the languages, Sanskrit and Tamil and her special ability in dramatics has been an invaluable asset to the school.

Madhu Mehta

Madhu is a founder member and a specialist in computer programming at the USAA. Her passion for dance is unparalled. She has a special flair for Indian folk dances and she imparts the nuances of folk movements of eastern women to the students in the west with patience. Her knowledge of the language Gujarati, her flair and style and her ability to work with young people has served the school immensely.

Jahanavi Rajagopal

Jahanavi a senior student of the school for the past 17 years Jahanavi has leadership skills and ability to teach in a structured way students of all ages. A busy senior in college, a working young woman, she makes time to dance. Her passion for dance is unwavering, her ability to work with groups is a gift and her willingness to shoulder responsibilities are qualities the school treasures.

Kamala Rao, MD

Kamala, associated with the school from its inception was a student and teacher in the school. A good vocalist, her sense of rhythm and knowledge of music made learning challenging for the group of women students with whom she still dances on special occasions. After practicing Anesthesiology for several years she now has a special clinic for Esthetic Surgery and also is a certified Yoga instructor, valuable assets for a dancer.

 

Rajam Ramamurthy, MD

Rajam, a founder member is a Neonatologist and Professor of Pediatrics at UTHSCSA. A visionary leader she has guided the schools development in every aspect including funding, curriculum development, programming, community involvement and leadership. Her understanding of children’s physical capabilities and mental maturation at different age levels has led to the development of a teaching style and philosophy that is uniquely suitable for students in the west.

 

Kausalya Subramaniam

Kausi, a student of the school has blossomed into a consummate teacher and a wonderful role model for the students. She manages her own engineering business, is a leader in the Asian business world in San Antonio. Her observance of form and posture in the students and adherence to purity of style makes every student who is presented by the school in their ‘Arangetram’ (graduation performance) a masterpiece. Her work with the senior students enables the school to showcase the talented students in local and national forum.
